Comprehensive Prevention and Control Techniques of Cucumber Root Rot
Symptoms: During the adult plant stage, water-soaked, slightly sunken lesions appear on the stem near the ground and eventually rot. The main lateral roots become completely decayed and die. This disease primarily affects the roots and does not spread upward.
Control Methods:
1. Seed Disinfection: Use seeds from disease-free plants or soak them in 50°C warm water for 20 minutes to reduce the risk of infection before planting.
2. Seedbed Disinfection: Prepare a seedbed using disease-free soil, or water the soil with a 50% Daisen ammonium solution diluted 200–400 times to prevent pathogen presence.
3. Soil Improvement: Apply no-tillage soil conditioners to enhance soil structure and promote healthy root development, which can help the plant resist diseases more effectively.
4. Early Disease Prevention: In the early stages of infection, apply a 65% dexamethasone solution diluted 500–600 times. Spray the plants every 5–7 days for 2–3 applications to control the spread of the disease.
It's also important to maintain good field hygiene, avoid overwatering, and ensure proper drainage to reduce the likelihood of this fungal disease occurring. Regular monitoring of the crops can help detect symptoms early, allowing for timely intervention and better management of the problem.
