For the preparation process, start by selecting clean, mold-free corn cobs and crush them into bean-sized pieces. Weigh and mix all the ingredients thoroughly, then add water until the moisture content reaches about 65%. This means that when you squeeze the mixture in your hand, a few drops of water should come out, but it shouldn’t be dripping. Once fully mixed, pile the material into stacks approximately 1–1.2 meters high and 1.5 meters wide, with no limit on length. Next, create ventilation holes using a 5 cm diameter tool, spaced about 40 cm apart and drilled all the way to the bottom of the pile. Cover the stack with materials like plastic sheets or straw curtains to maintain temperature and humidity. When the internal temperature reaches 60–70°C, it’s time to turn the pile. Repeat this process 3–4 times, each time allowing the temperature to rise again before turning. Once the material turns a tan color, becomes soft and flexible, and emits a pleasant aroma, it is fully fermented. At this point, adjust the moisture level to 65% and proceed to bag the material for inoculation. By following these steps, farmers can significantly improve their success rate in cultivating Bailing mushrooms, leading to better yields and higher profits.
