The drug stent is still safe and effective

Drug-coated stents continue to be a safe and effective treatment option for patients with coronary artery disease. At the China Interventional Cardiology Conference, jointly organized by the Chinese Medical Association and the American Congress of Cardiovascular Therapy, as well as the Paris Revascularization Conference, Academician Gao Runlin from the Chinese Medical Association's Cardiovascular Disease Branch and European expert Eric emphasized that drug-eluting stents remain a reliable choice. The overall rate of stent thrombosis is not significantly higher than that of bare-metal stents. However, patients who are unable to comply with long-term dual antiplatelet therapy should consider using bare stents instead.
Gao Runlin highlighted that after receiving a drug-coated stent, patients must take a combination of aspirin and clopidogrel for at least 12 months. In cases of complex lesions or special patient conditions, the duration may need to be extended. For patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery who must stop clopidogrel, it is recommended to continue aspirin and restart clopidogrel as soon as possible to reduce the risk of stent thrombosis. This approach has become widely accepted in the medical community as a standard practice for preventing such complications.
In 2006, during the World Congress of Cardiology, some researchers raised concerns that drug-coated stents might lead to late thrombosis and increase mortality, sparking debates over their safety. As a result, some patients became anxious, and even some doctors felt uncertain about their use. However, Gao Runlin pointed out that a series of randomized clinical trials conducted in 2007 demonstrated that drug-coated stents were not significantly less safe than bare-metal stents. There was no significant difference in mortality or heart attack rates between the two types. While there was a slight upward trend in late stent thrombosis after one year—about 0.2% to 0.5% per year—the benefits of reduced restenosis and target lesion revascularization were substantial. Therefore, the risks associated with late thrombosis did not outweigh the advantages of using drug-coated stents.
Gao Runlin also mentioned that ongoing research is focused on developing even better drug-coated stents. Two main areas of development include improved drug coatings and enhanced biodegradable polymers. New biodegradable polymers and scaffolds are currently being tested, with some already entering clinical trials. These innovations aim to further improve the safety and effectiveness of stent technology. ——Shanghai Medical Device Industry Association
Feed additives are small amounts of substances added to ordinary feed to improve animal nutrition, enhance physical fitness, and reduce
Feed dosage and effectiveness in disease prevention and control.Feed additives are divided into microbial feed additives and Chinese herbal feed additives.
The use of feed additives is one of the effective means to prevent intestinal diseases and improve the production performance of broilers and laying hens
The feed additive has achieved good application effect in the breeding of piglets, sows and finishing pigs
Feed additives can improve the weight gain rate of meat sheep, beef cattle and other meat ruminants, increase the net meat percentage of the carcass and improve meat quality
The application of feed additives in aquatic products is reflected in the two aspects of food and water purification. Feed additives can improve the microecological balance of aquatic animals, promote growth and development, and play a role in preventing and controlling diseases and improving production performance
