Determination of Edible Fungus Ash
GB/T 12532-2008: Determination of Edible Ash
This standard supersedes GB/T 12532-1990 and provides an updated method for the determination of ash content in edible fungi and their derived products.
The procedure outlined in this standard is designed to accurately measure the mineral content remaining after the complete combustion of organic material in edible fungi. This includes both the fruiting body and mycelium, as well as any processed forms of these materials.
It is applicable to a wide range of edible fungal products, such as dried mushrooms, mushroom powders, extracts, and other commercial forms used in food and dietary supplements. The method ensures consistency and reliability in ash analysis, which is essential for quality control and nutritional labeling purposes.
The standard specifies the use of a muffle furnace for incineration, followed by careful weighing of the residual ash. It also includes guidelines on sample preparation, temperature control, and the handling of results to minimize errors and ensure reproducibility across different laboratories.
By following this standard, laboratories can produce accurate and comparable data, supporting compliance with food safety regulations and consumer information requirements.
