Four points of summer management in Lamei

Summer care for Lamei requires attention to several key aspects. First, cooling down is essential during the hot season. Not only should the soil remain moist, but you should also mist the leaves regularly—ideally once in the morning and once in the evening. This helps maintain humidity around the plant and prevents leaf scorching from high temperatures.

Second, it's important to increase phosphate fertilizer. From June to July each year, after the shoots have lignified, flower buds begin to form. At this stage, spraying a 0.5% solution of potassium dihydrogen phosphate mixed with boric acid on the leaves can significantly support the development of healthy flower buds. This not only promotes flowering but also strengthens the overall growth of the plant.

Third, moderate pruning is necessary. For vigorously growing shoots, it's advisable to pinch back the tips to reduce nutrient consumption and encourage bushier growth. Additionally, remove any dead, diseased, or weak branches as soon as possible to improve air circulation and prevent the spread of disease.

Fourth, watering should be carefully controlled when flower buds start to develop. Limiting water at this time helps promote woodiness and the formation of flower buds. Avoid using excessive fertilizers or overwatering, as this can lead to leggy, weak growth. The ideal sign that you're watering correctly is when the leaves slightly curl, indicating the plant is under mild stress. At this point, focus on misting the foliage rather than watering the soil. Mist the leaves once every 1-2 days to help speed up the budding process and ensure strong, healthy blooms.

By following these summer management practices, you can ensure your Lamei thrives, remains healthy, and produces beautiful flowers throughout the season.
