Four points of summer management in Lamei

Summer care for Lamei is crucial to ensure healthy growth and abundant flowering. Here are some key tips to keep in mind:

1. Keep the plant cool. During the hot summer months, it's essential to maintain proper moisture levels in the potting soil. In addition, misting the leaves regularly helps lower the temperature around the plant and increases humidity. It's recommended to spray the foliage once in the morning and again in the evening.

2. Apply phosphate fertilizer. From June to July each year, after the shoots have become woody, flower buds begin to form. To support this process, you can spray a 0.5% solution of potassium dihydrogen phosphate mixed with boric acid onto the leaves. This helps promote the development of strong and healthy flower buds.

3. Prune moderately. For vigorous shoots, it's a good idea to pinch back the tips to reduce nutrient consumption and encourage bushier growth. Also, remove any weak, diseased, or thin branches as soon as they are noticed to maintain the plant’s overall health and appearance.

4. Control watering. Once the flower buds start to develop, it's important to regulate water intake. Overwatering can lead to leggy growth and poor bud formation. The ideal approach is to slightly dry out the top layer of soil and allow the leaves to appear slightly curled. Water the foliage rather than the roots, and mist every 1–2 days to help speed up the budding process without over-saturating the soil.

By following these summer management practices, you can help your Lamei thrive, produce more flowers, and remain vibrant throughout the season. Don’t forget to monitor the plant closely and adjust your care routine based on its specific needs and environmental conditions.
