The tractor should be cooled with soft water

Well water, river water, spring water, and seawater are considered hard water that hasn't been treated and is unsuitable for use as cooling water in tractors. If used directly, these types of water can cause scale buildup inside the engine's cooling system, which reduces cooling efficiency and may lead to overheating or damage over time.
On the other hand, snow and rainwater are naturally soft and can be used directly as cooling water for machinery without any treatment. However, if you must use hard water, it should be softened first to prevent scaling and maintain the performance of the cooling system.
To soften hard water, there are a few effective methods. One common approach is to boil the water and then let it settle before using it. This helps remove some of the minerals that contribute to hardness. Another method involves adding a softening agent such as caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), soda ash (sodium carbonate), or trisodium phosphate. For every 10 liters of hard water, you can add approximately 7 grams of caustic soda, 5 to 10 grams of soda ash, or 20 to 30 grams of trisodium phosphate. These substances help reduce the mineral content and make the water more suitable for use in cooling systems.
It’s important to note that improper water use in engines can lead to long-term issues, so always ensure the water is properly treated before use. Regular maintenance and proper water management can significantly extend the life of your machinery and improve its overall performance.
