Winter mushroom science management technology
First, scientific inoculation: Deep hole inoculation is more effective as it allows the mushroom mycelium to develop stronger resistance to drought. Under stable temperature and humidity conditions, the mycelium germinates quickly, significantly increasing survival rates and overall productivity.
Second, hot water budding: Soaking the blocks in warm water is an efficient technique to stimulate mushroom bud formation, which can double the yield of mushroom blocks. Here's how it works:
1. Choose high-quality blocks or tubes that have been fully dried and show no signs of contamination. Only use clean, intact blocks for processing to ensure optimal results.
2. Soaking the blocks in warm water is especially useful during winter when cultivating mushrooms. The water should be heated to around 33°C before submerging the blocks or fungus tubes. Let them soak for 3 to 5 hours. If the temperature drops, add more hot water to maintain a range of 18–33°C. After soaking, remove the blocks and place them on the mushrooming area, cover with plastic film to keep moisture, and wait until buds appear. In colder conditions, you can spray the blocks directly with hot water (18–33°C) and cover them with plastic to raise the internal temperature.
3. Once the soaked mushroom pieces are covered with plastic, they will continue to insulate, allowing the buds to emerge quickly. At this stage, increase ventilation and raise the air humidity. Within 10–17 days, the first batch of mushrooms can be harvested. After harvesting, remove the plastic and let the mushrooms dry completely for 7–15 days before re-soaking them in hot water for the second round of budding.
4. Nutrient supplementation: After the second harvest, it's important to replenish the nutrients in the blocks to support further growth and maximize yield.
Third, mushroom protection: During the maturation phase, which lasts about a week, proper management is crucial. Keep the room temperature around 15°C, maintain an air humidity of approximately 90%, and alternate between dry and wet conditions to provide environmental stimulation. After each harvest, remove the plastic cover and ventilate for 8–10 hours to allow the surface of the fungus tube to dry slightly. On sunny days, mist the blocks lightly. During the day, cover the Ganoderma with a film to help the mycelium rejuvenate. At night, after 12:00, lift the film for one hour to expose the mycelium to cooler temperatures, encouraging the formation of new buds. Repeat this process for 3–4 consecutive days to promote continuous mushroom development.
