It is very important to ventilate the potato in the early stage of the greenhouse.

The potato plants in the shed have reached the budding to flowering stage, a critical period in their growth cycle. This phase is not only when the plants require the most water but also when they are highly sensitive to temperature fluctuations. If the greenhouse temperature becomes too high, it can hinder tuber development and reduce yield potential. To ensure optimal growing conditions, temperature regulation within the arch shed is essential during this time. Air cooling becomes one of the top priorities in managing the potato field.
To achieve the ideal temperature range, the sides of the shed should be partially opened by pressing the arches to the ground. The plastic film on the sides can be rolled up to create a ventilation belt, with the height adjusted based on current temperature levels. The air temperature inside the greenhouse should be maintained between 16–18°C, while the soil temperature should stay within 18–21°C. This range promotes the best conditions for tuber formation and expansion. If temperatures rise above 21°C, plant growth may slow down significantly, and if the soil temperature exceeds 25°C, tuber development may nearly stop altogether.
In addition to proper ventilation, it's important to manage irrigation and fertilization effectively. A foliar spray using a 0.1–0.3% borax solution or a 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can provide essential nutrients during this crucial growth phase. This should be done along with the third irrigation to support healthy plant development and maximize yield potential. By carefully monitoring and adjusting both temperature and nutrient levels, farmers can ensure that their potato crops reach their full potential.
