Winter mushroom science management technology
First, scientific inoculation: Deep hole inoculation is more effective and helps enhance the drought resistance of mushroom mycelium. When the mushroom species are cultivated under stable temperature and humidity conditions, their mycelia germinate quickly, which significantly improves survival rates.
Second, hot water budding: Using a hot water dip method to stimulate bud formation can double the production of mushroom blocks. The process involves:
1. Selecting high-quality blocks or tubes that have fully dried and show no signs of contamination. These should be intact and ready for processing.
2. Soaking the blocks in warm hot water is an effective technique for cultivating mushrooms in winter. Typically, water is heated to around 33°C, and the blocks or fungus tubes are placed into the tank for 3 to 5 hours. If the water cools down, additional hot water is added to maintain the temperature between 18°C and 33°C. Once soaked, the blocks are removed and placed on the mushrooming site, covered with plastic film to retain moisture until buds appear. In colder conditions, hot water at 18–33°C can be directly sprayed onto the blocks, and the internal temperature can be increased by covering them with a plastic film.
3. After soaking, the mushroom pieces should be covered with plastic film to maintain warmth. This encourages rapid bud growth. At this stage, it's important to increase ventilation and raise the air's relative humidity. Within 10–17 days, the first batch of mushrooms can be harvested. After harvesting, the film is removed, and the mushrooms are allowed to dry completely for 7–15 days before being soaked in hot water again for the second round of budding.
4. Nutrient supplementation: After the second harvest, it's essential to add nutrients back into the blocks to support further growth and ensure a successful next cycle.
Third, mushroom protection: During the maturation phase, which lasts about a week, careful management is required. The room temperature should be kept around 15°C, with the air humidity maintained at approximately 90%. Alternating between dry and wet conditions, as well as cold and heat, helps stimulate the mushrooms. After each harvest, the membrane should be removed, and the blocks should be ventilated for 8–10 hours to allow slight drying. On sunny days, water should be sprayed lightly. During the day, the Ganoderma film should be left open to help the mycelium rejuvenate. At night, after 12:00, the film should be lifted for one hour to expose the blocks to cooler temperatures, encouraging new bud formation. This process should be repeated for 3–4 consecutive days to maximize yield.
