Life, Through New Eyes

Last night, I sat down to start writing this post and barely got a few sentences in before my eyelids grew heavy. It made me think about the importance of listening to my body and prioritizing the things that truly matter—like spending quality time with my kids and really connecting with them. So, I decided to call it a night, slipped into bed, and nestled under my cozy down comforter. Rewind. Here we are. Today, I found myself in my daughter's kindergarten classroom, surrounded by 19 little bundles of energy. This is something I try to do every week, but today felt different. The kids were the same—wriggly and eager to explore—but I saw them through a new lens. Life has a way of shifting your perspective, doesn't it? Each moment feels more precious now, and I find myself cherishing even the smallest interactions. This morning, our six-year-old daughter asked her dad to walk her to school. He shared how it was such a simple request, yet so meaningful. There will come a time when she won’t want him to, and those opportunities will be gone. She senses that something is changing, even if she doesn’t fully understand it yet. At random moments, she’ll glance at her "security" for the week and ask questions, trying to piece things together. One little girl working on tying bows said, "I was so cute when I was a baby." With a gentle smile, I replied, "You still are, and you're also very pretty." Her face lit up with a shy grin, and it reminded me how small affirmations can make a big impact. Another child had fallen and was quietly crying. Before she could even respond to my offer of a hug, she was already nestled in my arms. Sometimes, it’s not about doing things perfectly—it’s about being present and offering kindness. In a world where we often focus on learning to say "no," I’ve been reflecting on the value of saying "yes" to the right things. To being present. To making someone’s day just a little brighter. You never know when you'll cross paths again. As I waved goodbye to the security guard today, I gave a silent nod of gratitude, hoping they’d keep my little one safe. --- [Image: Tabitha Blue logo] Each moment, each interaction, carries weight. It’s not always easy, but choosing to embrace those moments with intention can change everything.
