Grape fruit basket storage and freshness preservation method

The fruit baskets used for storing grapes should be made of durable materials such as sturdy wicker baskets, wooden crates, or rigid plastic containers. The size of the baskets should not be excessively large—ideally, they should hold between 10 to 15 kilograms of grapes to ensure ease of handling and proper ventilation. Each basket should include a set of grape clusters, with layers of paper or waxed paper placed between the bunches to prevent bruising and maintain freshness. The grape clusters should be arranged in a sloped manner within the basket, allowing for even air circulation. Each layer should also be wrapped in sterilized packaging paper, which has been treated with either 0.5% chlorine bleach or 0.7% peracetic acid to reduce microbial contamination. Once the basket is filled, a solid lid should be placed on top to protect the grapes from external elements. The baskets should then be stored in a cool cellar or a controlled environment like a kiln cellar, where temperature and humidity can be managed effectively. For stacking, each basket should be placed on its own pallet, or two baskets may be stacked vertically if necessary. However, it’s important to place wooden spacers between the upper and lower baskets to allow for proper airflow. Additionally, there must be a clear walkway between each pallet to facilitate regular inspections and maintenance. This method ensures that the grapes remain fresh, undamaged, and easy to manage throughout the storage period.
