It’s Sunday once again, and you know what that means—it’s time for one of my absolute favorites... Sunday Citar!
Here’s where we all share a quote or two—something cherished, newly discovered, or maybe even one that made us laugh or cry this week. (Citar means ‘to quote’ in Spanish.)

“The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.”
~Morrie Schwartz

Recently, I found myself on a solo six-hour flight away from my family. Six hours of uninterrupted thought, even though I was seated amidst a sea of people radiating outward from seat 14A. You might wonder what a mom does with so much time away from the constant chorus of "Mom! Mommy!" That's right—she thinks.

She thinks about being a mom and what that truly entails. She reflects on what her children are learning and what traditions they'll hold dear as they grow older. She ponders moments like Thanksgiving, a holiday that has passed us by more times than I can count, though we still celebrate it in our own way—with a pre-holiday feast, complete with all the fixings, a splash of kids' wine for celebration (which, by the way, my kids absolutely adored this year—Brayden even insisted on clinking cups mid-meal without taking a sip), and a beautifully hand-drawn portrait of each family member by Aliyah as our place cards. Despite these efforts, I sometimes wonder if they truly grasp the essence of gratitude and togetherness.

While we gather around the table to express our thanks and dive into books about the first Thanksgiving, sorting through items to donate, I question whether they fully understand the deeper meaning behind these actions. These are thoughts that linger in the hearts of parents everywhere, especially those who've nurtured their children from infancy. But perhaps more important than lessons and teachings is the act of genuine love—both giving and receiving it. When those tiny hands form into a heart-shaped gesture, and a sweet voice calls out "mom," followed by expectant eyes waiting for my response, I realize they're learning how to love—and they're also teaching me how to accept it. In moments like these, we become better at loving others, sharing freely, forgiving easily, asking for forgiveness sooner, and expressing gratitude more often.

They're beginning to get it, and I believe I am too.
