1. Steam pressure: Temperature is an important factor that controls the permeation rate of citronella oil. When steam pressure is increased, the steam temperature is increased accordingly, which can accelerate the distillation speed and shorten the distillation time. According to the test, a small steam distillation plant with a boiler capacity of about 2.5 cubic meters and a steam pressure of up to 3.5-4 kg/cm2, with a steaming pressure of 1 kg/cm2, the oil output ratio is 1.3 kg/cm3. The square centimeter high 0.06%, the aldehyde content high 0.05%, distillation time difference is not great. Therefore, it is necessary to proceed from safety production, and a dome pressure of 1 kg/cm2 is appropriate. Regardless of water distillation or steam distillation, the pressure should be kept stable, and the gas pressure will reduce the oil rate. Therefore, the water distillation of firepower must remain consistent and fierce, only large and small. In steam distillation, the inlet steam must be small to large, so that the steam pressure rises steadily. 2. Volume of steam: During the distillation process of citronella, water vapor is used to remove the citronella oil that has been exposed on the leaf surface. Therefore, in the distillation process, a certain amount of steam is required to be supplied. A reasonable amount of steam production units can be measured on their own, not only to shorten the distillation time, increase the oil yield, but also to be able to use steam economically to increase the use of equipment and reduce fuel consumption. 3. Condensation: The high-temperature oil-water mixed steam becomes a low-temperature oil-water mixture by the cooling of the condenser tube. The condensed oil-water mixture should be between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius. If it is above 60 degrees Celsius, the oil component will be partially volatilized, especially vanillin. The condensing pipe should be placed in the center of the ditch straightly, the flow direction of the mixture should be opposite to that of the cooling water, and the condensing pipe should not be buried in the mud of the ditch. Use the heat dissipation, otherwise the temperature of the liquid mixture will generally be 5 to 10 degrees Celsius higher. . The condensate from the condenser must enter the water separator to separate the citronella oil and moisture. 4. Fuel savings: Water distillation units are used throughout China to accumulate rich experience in fuel savings. In the citronella processing plants in Zhanjiang and Hainan, Guangdong, most of them use citronella residue as processing fuel. The quality of the citronella processing plant has great influence on shortening the distillation time and increasing the oil yield. Using the citronella slag dried in the same day, the distillation time can be reduced by 20 to 30 minutes, and the oil yield can be increased by 0.02 to 0.28%.
