The concept and composition of concentrate supplements
Concentrate supplements refer to feed supplemented with roughage, green feed, and silage based herbivores. Feeds formulated with a variety of feed ingredients in a certain proportion are also referred to as mixed concentrates. It is mainly composed of energy feed, protein feed, mineral feed and some feed additives. It is mainly suitable for feeding cattle, sheep, rabbits and other herbivores. This feed is not fully priced and does not constitute a separate diet. It only forms part of a herbivore diet to supplement the portion of the diet that feeds on forages. The composition of the concentrate supplement material: energy feed + protein feed + mineral feed + vitamin feed + additives + carrier or diluent, and the amount accounts for 15% to 40% of the total dry matter of the diet.
