In winter, watering vegetables in greenhouses must pay attention to certain methods, otherwise it will affect the normal growth of vegetables. Based on my own practical experience, the author believes that when watering greenhouses in the winter, special attention should be paid to the following five points to ensure the high yield and quality of vegetables.

First, the amount of water should not be too large. At low temperatures, the evaporation of the soil moisture in the shed is slow, and the amount of water required is reduced accordingly. Therefore, the amount of watering should be small, and the interval time should be longer. Avoid flooding and flooding so as to prevent the low temperature and high humidity from causing the roots of the vegetables.

The second is proper watering time. Watering of vegetables in winter should be arranged before and after noon. It should be better after 10 o'clock in the morning and before 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The greenhouse temperature during this period is relatively high, and the side effects after watering are minimal. Avoid watering in the early morning and evening to prevent freezing of vegetables. Watering should use well water as much as possible, because the well water temperature is higher, which can reduce the physiological stimulation of vegetables.

The third is to look at the days of flexible watering. According to the weather conditions, we should master the principle of “a fair amount of water in the sunny days, little or no pouring in cloudy days, and avoid watering in the wind and snow days”. When the weather changes from sunny to cloudy, the amount of water must gradually decrease, and the interval should be appropriately extended. From cloudy to sunny, the amount of water should increase from small to large, and the interval time should be shortened.

Fourth, watering should focus on. There is a big difference in the temperature of each part of the greenhouse, and the amount of watering must also be different. In the southern part of the greenhouse and near heat sources such as stoves and flue gas, there is a large amount of evaporation of soil moisture, and the amount of watering can be appropriately larger. The east and west sides of the greenhouse have lower temperatures on both sides and in the north, and the sunshine hours are also short, and the amount of watering should be appropriately less.

The fifth is the management after watering. After watering in winter, it is easy to cause problems such as low temperature, high humidity, and many diseases in the greenhouse. Therefore, the first two days after watering, the temperature should be raised to about 40°C at noon first, and then the shed should be raised for one hour to increase the ground temperature in the greenhouse and then be drained in time. Reduce the humidity in the greenhouse to reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases in greenhouses.
