Embraco announces the mass production of the NEX and VEH compressors series in its factory in Beijing

This investment seeks to meet the growing demand for food-service and food-retail refrigeration solutions among Asian manufacturers.

Beijing, November 2023 – Embraco, a global leader in refrigeration technology for both residential and commercial cold chains and part of the Nidec Global Appliance portfolio, has begun large-scale production of its fixed-speed NEX and variable-speed VEH compressors at its facility in Beijing. This announcement was made during the Embraco Experience Asia Summit held on November 22, attended exclusively by customers from across the Asia-Pacific region.

Daniel Campos, Vice President of Commercial Appliances at Nidec Global Appliance, stated: “By ramping up production of NEX and VEH compressors in China, we are enhancing our service capabilities and getting closer to our Asian customers. Producing these products locally makes us more competitive in the market, maintaining the same high efficiency and robustness as our current offerings while reducing delivery times. Expanding our local production footprint enables us to cater to major market segments and serve the entire region effectively.”

Reliable, Efficient, and Flexible Solutions

Both compressor models offer significant benefits to end-users, including low energy consumption, rapid cooling, and minimal noise levels. The NEX series boasts high energy efficiency and cooling capacities up to 1 kW, along with compact design features. These are ideal for applications like professional kitchens, reach-in units, under-counter units, and display cases. The VEH compressors, on the other hand, feature dual-voltage capability with excellent tolerance for fluctuations, operate efficiently in high-temperature environments, and are designed for use in settings such as professional kitchens, freezers, coolers, and frozen food sections. Both models are also available with R290 natural refrigerants, which help minimize the environmental impact on the ozone layer nearly to zero.

“Our primary focus is the food service and food retail sectors, where there is a strong need for high-capacity compressors. Beyond adding more value to these applications, another key advantage of local production for our Asian clients is increased competitiveness amid rising commodity and transportation costs,” noted Esequias Pereira Junior, Director of Sales and Application Engineering for the Asia-Pacific region at Nidec Global Appliance.

To establish this production line, the company invested $5.7 million. Once fully operational in 2024, it is expected to produce 500,000 units annually and create between 80 and 100 new jobs.
