In November 2023, Embraco, a renowned global provider of advanced refrigeration technology under the Nidec Global Appliance umbrella, announced the commencement of large-scale production of its fixed-speed NEX and variable-speed VEH compressors at its facility in Beijing. This strategic move was unveiled during the Embraco Experience Asia Summit held on November 22, an event that brought together key customers from across the Asia-Pacific region.
Daniel Campos, Vice President of Commercial Appliances at Nidec Global Appliance, expressed his excitement about this development. He stated, "By ramping up the production of NEX and VEH compressors in China, we are enhancing our ability to deliver top-tier service and maintain closer ties with our Asian clients. Producing these compressors locally not only strengthens our competitive edge but also ensures we continue to provide highly efficient and reliable products, while significantly reducing delivery times. This expansion will allow us to cater to major market segments and serve the entire region effectively."
The robustness and versatility of both compressor models have already caught attention. The NEX series boasts impressive energy efficiency and cooling capacities of up to 1 kW, making them ideal for various applications such as professional kitchens, reach-in units, under-counter units, and display cases. Known for their compact design and ease of integration, they are perfect for businesses looking to optimize space without compromising performance. On the other hand, the VEH compressors come equipped with dual-voltage capabilities, offering greater adaptability to voltage fluctuations and ensuring reliable operation even in high-temperature environments. These compressors are particularly suited for demanding applications like professional kitchens, freezers, coolers, and frozen island displays. Additionally, both models are available with R290 natural refrigerants, contributing to reduced environmental impact by minimizing ozone depletion potential.
Esequias Pereira Junior, Sales and Application Engineering Director for the Asia-Pacific region at Nidec Global Appliance, highlighted the importance of these developments for the food service and food retail industries. He noted, "Our primary focus remains the food service and retail sectors, where there is a significant demand for compressors with higher cooling capacities. By producing these compressors locally, we address rising concerns over commodity and transportation costs while delivering enhanced value propositions to our clients."
To support this initiative, Embraco has invested $5.7 million in setting up the new production line. Once fully operational in 2024, it is expected to produce around 500,000 units annually, creating approximately 80 to 100 new jobs in the process. This substantial investment underscores Embraco's commitment to meeting future market needs while maintaining its reputation for innovation and quality.
