Castor ash disease
Symptoms mainly affect the leaves, petioles, and stems. Leaf lesions cause round to oval lesions in brown, middle gray, size 1-3mm, and some leaves have dozens of lesions. Petiole, stem infected with a gray spindle-shaped spot in the middle depression, brown edge, serious stem lesions penetrated into the phloem, causing red-brown spots on the fibers.
The pathogen, Colletotrichum boehmeriae Sawada, called ramie anthrax, a fungus belonging to the subphylum Fungi. The conidia plate is dark brown with several dark brown bristles surrounded by 2-4 septa. The base is swollen and the tip is fine, slightly pointed, straight or slightly curved. The size is 45-854-5 (μm). The conidia unit cells are colorless, oblong, and are 25-4512-18 (μm) in size.
Transmission routes and pathogenic conditions The pathogens used mycelia to overwinter in the seed or diseased body tissues and became the source of infestation early in the year. The conidia produced by the diseased part of the ramie breeding process can be re-infested many times through the spread of wind and rain and insects. In the event of high temperature and rain, nitrogen fertilizer is too much, hemp strains are too dense, low-lying terrain, or frequent occurrence of moisture retention in the fields. Luzhuqing and Huangcaozao were more susceptible.
Prevention and control methods (1) Use black peony root, Anren ramie, Golden wolfberry, and Xiangyuan No. 3 as resistant or disease resistant varieties in accordance with local conditions. (2) Select the field plots with high dryness and good irrigation and drainage conditions. Drain the water immediately after the rain to prevent moisture from staying. Apply enough base fertilizer, increase application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, not partial application, red nitrogen fertilizer. (3) Proper close planting. (4) If necessary, spray 50% benomyl wettable powder 1500 times or 50% retort WP 500 times, 25% carbon WP wettable powder 500 times, and 80% anthraquinone. Wet powder 800 times, every 7-10 days, control 2-3 times.
